COMPETITION
"LEAPFEST"

The Rhode Island National Guard “Leapfest” International
Static Line Military Parachute Competition is the largest
continuously conducted military parachute competition in the
world. The event has been conducted since 1982.
All services and components of the U.S. Military attend
as well as teams from foreign nations compete in the
one-day event. The event consists of a team of four
jumpers attempting to land closest to a target in the
center of the drop zone. Each individual jumper is timed
from the moment they land until they reach the target.
Each team is allowed three jumps. The team with the
lowest combined score is the winner. There are awards
for the first three finishing teams.
Each team consists of four personnel, one jumpmaster
and three jumpers. Each team is allowed one
alternate. All personnel must be a military
qualified parachutist. Individuals may be of any
rank or gender. All foreign jumpers receive United
States Parachutist Wings.
