In Memory of
Francis Roark
Frank Roark, age 68, of Chelmsford, Massachusetts passed
away on October 13, 2019 after a four-year battle with cancer.
He was born in Lowell, Massachusetts. Frank was a member of
Chapter 54 Boston, Special Forces Association.
Frank served as an infantryman in the 82nd Airborne Division
in 1971. He volunteered for Special Forces and became a Special
Forces Medical Specialist after attending the Special Forces
Qualification Course. He served with the 1st Special Forces
Group on Okinawa until 1974. While assigned to 1st Group he
earned a Combat Divers badge. Frank left active duty and served with
A/1/11th Special Forces Group based at Fort Devens,
Massachusetts.
In 1978 Frank entered the law enforcement field with the
Chelmsford Police Department. When he retired he was the Deputy
Police Chief of Chelmsford, Massachusetts. For many years he
served as the Commander of the Northeastern Massachusetts Law
Enforcement Council (NEMLEC) SWAT Team.
As a testament to his unparalleled work ethic, Frank owned
two businesses over the course of his working career; Roark
Irrigation and Chelmsford Well and Pump. His passions included
marathon running, ice fishing, storytelling, gardening,
beekeeping, and writing.
A funeral Mass was held on October 18, 2019 at the St. Mary
Parish Church followed by a private interment.
