James Phillips

IMO James Phillips Special Forces

James Phillips, age 74, of Shamong, New Jersey died on August 25, 2020.

Jim became a police officer with the Camden City Police Department where he served for 37 years and retired as a Lt. He served most of his career as a member of the SWAT team - as an operator, supervisor, and as the commander of the unit.

He was the owner of Phillips Publications - a company dedicated to the preservation of the history of U.S. military elite units. He attended the annual Special Forces Association conventions and always had a vendor table set up for the purchase of books and other Special Forces memorabilia. He is the author of several books including The Devil's Bodyguard: prisoner, paratrooper, pirate & patriot.

Jim was a member of the Special Forces Association and the Chute & Dagger Association. He served on the board of directors for the American Bladesmith's Society and the Military Freefall Association. He was a man of many interests and talents to include time as an instructor in Shotokan Karate.

Services and a funeral took place in Williamstown, New Jersey on August 29, 2020. Jim's ashes will be spread while in freefall over Phillips Drop Zone in Yuma, Arizona.
