Chapter 54 Leadership Meeting

The chapter leadership and executive board conducted a
leadership meeting to discuss chapter business. Topics covered
included the treasurers report, review of chapter "Member of
the Year SOP", voluntary respository of chapter member
biographical information by the chapter, "Chapter 54 Election
SOP" review, "Donald C. Van Roosen Leadership Award"
establishment, and the updating of the Chapter 54 website.

convention. He provided an After-Action-Report (AAR) which was
sent via email to the chapter membership.

Celebration of Life - SFC (Ret) Kevin O'Brien
Chapter 54 member Kevin O'Brien, formerly of 10th, 11th, and
20th Special Forces Group, passed away earlier this year. His
family and friends held a Celebration of Life event at
the Rye Country Club. Many members of Chapter 54 attended as
well as an Honor Guard from the 5th Special Forces Group.

Memorial Day Observance
Stoneham Square, Stoneham, Massachusetts
This event takes place every year and is open to all Chapter
members and guests. The group assembles at 0900 and the
Memorial Day Ceremony starts at 1000 at the William F. Buckley
Memorial in Stoneham Square, Stoneham, Massachusetts. The group
will fallout for coffee at the local coffee shop in the square
following the ceremony.

COL (Ret) Donald Van Roosen Ceremony
A ceremony was held for COL Donald Van Roosen, a Chapter 54 member, who
died on December 29, 2016. Many Chapter 54 members were in
attendence for the ceremony at Pleasant Grove Cemetery,
Manchester, Massachusetts. Donald Van Roosen was Chapter 54's
first President and a highly-decorated World War II Veteran
that stormed Omaha Beach with the 29th Infantry in 1944. He
received a battlefield commission in 1944.
