Chapter 54 Cookout
This year's big summer event will be held at the
Devens, MA Community Center. The date of the cookout is
Saturday, August 22, 2026. The event is free to Chapter 54
members and one guest thanks to our cookout sponsor.
Cookout will be a NE style lobster bake (with alternate steak
menu), salads, strawberry shortcake desert, beer, and soft drinks.

Gathering at the LTC Buckley Memorial in Stoneham, MA to
conduct a brief ceremony to honor Col. Bill Buckley and all
deceased members of the Regiment. Coffee and donuts to follow.

Tour of USS Salem
Saturday, May 2, 2026
Quincy, MA
This event was be held on May
2, 2026 from 10:30 am to Noon when Chapter members toured the Heavy
Cruiser the
USS Salem at the Quincy, MA shipyard,
followed by lunch on the water. The trip will included a private tour of the USS Salem,
which is a WW II Heavy Cruiser and is essentially a “floating
museum”.
Accessibility to the first deck, where we toured, is open to
all, however the lower deck, for those who want, is somewhat
limited by typical Navy ladders.
Our tour and lecture took place on the first deck.
As always, this event wa open to all Chapter 54 Members and one
guest, and was offered at no charge to our Members and their
guest.
The cost of the museum/ship ticket was paid by a very
generous donation made by Chapter Secretary Al Kornacki and his
wife Karen – thanks Al and Karen!
The cost of the lunch was paid by Ch. 54, so there is was
cost to Chapter Members and their guest for this event.
Fourteen members and guests attended the event. The Chapter's
good friend, Carl Ingrao, donated $100 to the USS Salem's
support and maintenance fund.

year. Individual Chapter members are encouraged to visit the
William Buckley Memorial in Stoneham, Mass to pay their
respects.
